Mary's Hotel is a budget hotel near the Cemetery of the Father Lachaise, extremely close to Gambetta metro station, 5 minutes from the Porte de Bagnolet and 20 minutes from Roissy Airport.

Surrounding area is lovely and calmer than the centre, a nice contrast at the end of the day. Room was fine, but had to pay daily every morning which was a hassle as our credit cards did not work. The staff were helpful (& flexible) though, so no problem. Also, make sure that your towels are on the bathroom floor if used, or they may not get changed. Minor points though, it was a great place to stay on a lower budget."

"We are a german couple and we wanted to visit Paris primarily and overnight secondarily. So our expectation was not too high and with humour we climbed up the narrow stairs. Hups - no cupboard, but why not? We slept 3 nights there and we had calmness and peace. We didn't search for shortcomings and we didn't find them. When we needed a corkscrew, we got one from the staff. Thats ok. The quick connection to the city was the most important advantage. The only thing we wondered was the fact that we had to pay in advance. The next time in Paris we will spend in Mary's hotel again, with the red neon light over the entrance."

"We were extremely pleased with our stay at this hotel. It's walking distance to any attractions in the Notre Dame area and it is 1/2 block from the subway. If you require a hotel with restaurants and lounges, this is not it. But, if you need basic hotel services in a clean, warm atmosphere with a great location, this is the place! The people who own the bistro adjacent to the hotel are very nice as well so it's almost as though you have a restaurant/bar in the hotel. We ended every night there planning what we would do the following day."

"The Royal Cardinal Hotel in the Latin Quarter in Paris was exactly as described - so there were no surprises. The rooms are small by north american standards, but are a good size for Paris. The bathrooms are designed so that we shower-loving folks can actually have a stand-up shower without flooding the entire bathroom! The street noise is loud, but the sound-proof windows completely eliminate it when closed. The staff all speak a very good English. Location of this hotel is fabulous. Many of the major attractions are within walking distance and those that are not are an easy metro ride away - don't shy away from the Paris metro - it is very easy to find your way around, and very safe. The price for this hotel represents good value. This was our third visit to Paris, and this hotel surpassed the other two we stayed at in our previous visits As we don't like the 'log' pillows that seem so popular in hotel rooms in France, we asked for regular pillows and they were immediately provided. If you have a room with a balcony enjoy a glass of wine overlooking the Paris skyline."
