Olga's House Bed & Breakfast in Florence - the view of Piazza della Signoria from the hotel's street

Budget hotels & Bed&Breakfasts in Florence

Olga's House is a small bed & breakfast in a dream location, just around the corner from Piazza della Signoria, which is with Piazza Duomo the true heart of Florence. The B&B is at stone's throw from Uffizi Gallery, Palazzo Vecchio, Loggia dei Lanzi and Ponte Vecchio, and a short walk to all main sites.
Olga's House is in a renovated building, well-equipped with all modern facilities. The B&B is personally managed by the owners Anastasia and Roberto, who are very helpful in providing local information and in arranging tickets and all sorts of reservations.
The central train station is 15 minutes' walk from Olga's House.
Breakfast is consumed at Caffè Rivoire in the nearby, magnificent Piazza della Signoria. Car parking in nearby garage is available at extra charge. Guests have their own set of keys, so that they can be independent and there is no curfew.
The hotel offers a quiet and modern ambience, privacy, good accommodation at moderate prices.
The 5 rooms are sound proofed and have double glazed windows, for extra quiet.
Rooms are both with & without en-suite bathroom.
Some typical guests' reviews:
"We stayed 5 nights at Olga's House and from the time we arrived until the time we left, our host, Roberto, could not do enough for us. He was extremely accommodating and friendly and had a great sense of humour. Our room was very clean and well maintained and was surprisingly quiet. Breakfast was great at Cafe Rivoire with a hot cappucino and fresh pastry waiting for us each morning. Delicious! Location is excellent and for a couple of mature aged backpackers like ourselves, not too far to walk from the rail station. Stairs also, were not a problem to us. All in all, a great stay in Florence, thanks to Roberto and Olga's House!"
"Excellent location, clean rooms, friendly staff."
"Amazing location, steps to most major attraction but on a quiet side street. It would be a mistake to try to bring a car, though. Walk or cheap taxi from train/bus station is much easier. The innkeeper Roberto is wonderful. He understands the needs of travelers and has taken great care to provide useful information and recommendations. He truly cares about the experience of his guests. The breakfast arrangement of cappucino and croissant in the famous cafe is quite fun. We highly recommend Olga's House."
"Olga's House is one of the best alternatives if you'd like to spend your time in the very center of the city. It is only a hundred meters away from the Uffizi Gallery!! Roberto is very helpful in suggesting places to eat and etc. A very good place for a good price in an excellent part of the city."
"Room was better than what we expected based on what we initially see from the website. It is more spacious than the other B&Bs/hotels we stayed in Italy. Roberto (the host) was most helpful and gracious. Location of Olga's House is more than excellent as it's right in the heart of city and close to almost all the main museums/galleries/shopping areas. The only drawback is there is no lift in the building and we had to climbed 4 floors with luggage to get to the place! Otherwise, praises to Roberto & company for making our stay in Florence a memorable one! Thanks!"
"Olga's House is really great if you want to be in the center of things. You're right there on the Piazza Signoria in the central pedestrian area. The location just cannot get better. Breakfast is in a famous cafe on the Piazza Signoria, where you can get a croissant and coffee at the counter like the Italians (cannot sit down, is too expensive). Rooms are modern and very clean and spacious, a bit too sterile maybe. But a great spot if you want to be close to all the historical sights."
"We stayed in Olga's House for only two days and we loved it. The staff was so welcoming and accomodating. It was clean and in a great location. Only problem is the noise level because it sits right near the square and it gets loud at night, but that is what you get with such a great location! I loved out stay there and will certainly be back in the future! Thank you, Olga's House and Robbie!"
"We had a geat stay, roberto was extremely helpful in many ways, from getting taxi to specific tourist information. the room was very clean and complete. we did not mind the many stairs, and enjoyed the common space with its many tourist books. the loation is THE BEST. and the double pane windows make the room silent."
"Excellent location (3 minutes from the David!)."
"Excellent location for sight-seeing. Clean, spacious, safe, and modern triple room/bath. Best part: Roberto was hands-on to assist all guests in making reservations for attractions and to give recommendations for restaurants and day-tours. This was our first trip to Italy, and it was wonderful to have Roberto's personal attention! Little food market downstairs to buy waters and fruit, and restaurants and Internet connection very close-by. Be prepared to walk up many steps to get to hotel -- but this will get one in shape for Italy in general -- very few elevators (lifts) there. We would stay here again."
"This place is great on so many levels. You couldn't ask for a better location (right near the Uffizi and Piazza Signoria). Accomodations are clean and simple. Windows are double glazed. Breakfast is brioche and cappuccino at a nearby cafe. The owner is the best! Roberto is so friendly and helpful (he helped us find accomodations for the latter part of our trip). He runs a great place--you won't mind the walk up to the fourth floor:) Go here!!!"
"My only problem was the discovery that Olga's was 80 steps up! Everything else was great and I was in better shape when I left."
"Helpful and friendly owner and staff. Only drawback is lack of an elevator but pack lightly and enjoy the wonderful location and spacious, clean rooms."
"This place was very basic but clean and the noise level was fairly tolerable, given that it is right in the center of town. The service was also very friendly. Would recommend the place for people traveling on a budget who want simple but convenient accomodations. As others have pointed out, you also have to walk up a lot of steps to get to the place, so would probably not recommend for anyone in bad shape."
"Very nice room with a great location! Very very friendly and welcoming when we arrived with a map of our location for us. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!"
"Olga's House was very nice. The proprietor, Roberto, was a kind and gracious host. The location was excellent. Rooms were clean, spacious, and quiet. I would not hesitate to stay here again when in Florence."
"Location of Olga's is wonderful, right off Piazza della Signoria (where the Neptune fountain is) and as such, a great central home base for wandering Florence. Roberto is a wonderful host and was the most like an American B/B that we found in Italy - meaning he had maps, books to share, guest book, etc. Everything was clean and the room was very spacious. The stairs - well, just think of them as burning off the daily gelato. We'd return!"
"An excellent B and B with good modern rooms. Location excellent in terms of sightseeing and museums - 50 metres from Uffizi Galery. Only downside for less fit visitors would be stairs but if you are fit and able, do stay there if you are looking for good value, clean accommodation where you can come and go as you please."
"For the price and location, this was a great place to stay. And what a location. Go down the stairs and turn left. 20 meters away is the main plazza - just beautiful."
"Olgas house is a splendid place to stay, with exceptional service and facilities."
"Olga's House was excellent. We were given a very warm welcome after our long and tiring day. It is in a great location. We would recommend Olga's House without hesitation."
"Wow! What a fantastic place. Location was absolutely superb - right on Piazza della Signoria; the room was clean, modern and comfortable; and above all, Roberto was a star -welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. Thanks for everything Roberto and we'll definately see you again!"
"The location is perfect! You can access any place to see in Florence easily. Although it's very close to the centre of Florence,I didn't hear so much noise. The owner is really friendly, speaks English well, so you can ask him whatever you wonder without any problem. And the room is very clean and large enough, also I liked its simple interior."
"Olga's was great. Roberto and Olga were great hosts. We would recommend this place to anyone staying in Florence."
"we have had a great time at the Olga's House. The manager is a very friendly man who made us feel welcome. the quality of the beds is good."
"The place is really very nice, better than presented on the web site."
"Roberto was very nice. Everything is close by. Roberto lets us know what was going on as he speaks english very well. I will go back and stay again.(only longer)"
"Accommodation which is only 100 yards from the main square of Florence. Good value for money and excellent, humorous host Roberto."
"This is one of the best valued B & B's I've stayed in. The location is incredible, Piazza Signora is right outside the front door and it is very quiet. I've recommended it to several of my friends. The owner also gave us some great tips on inexpensive places to eat with wonderful food (where the locals go)."

"Very simple but clean Hotel, practically located close to railway station and also quite close to the main monuments."
"For a cheap place to stay near the train station, you can not beat the Hotel Fiorentino. In fact, we had a wonderful view. However, the Hotel Fiorentino is a bit on the gritty side, but it served us very well. The price was right."
"Must say that there was nothing the establishment could do about the noise level, as the room was in the middle of Florence, near the train and buses and there was always noise outside (not to mention the consturction). However, there were double doors to the balcony, which did help to keep some of the loudness out. Also must say that the gentlemen at the front desk were all SO helpful and polite."
"Family hotel with good welcoming, good location."
"The prize vs qualitity was ok, but was a little difficult to find the hotel. The relation with employees was very nice, in general I can say that If I need it, I will use this web again."
"Very close to the station. You should reserve over the net, because the prices they told travellers without reservation are tremendously high."

Some typical guests' reviews:
"This was our second stay at this delightful hotel. Not far from the British Consulate, it is very conveniently situated for all the atractions in Florence, right on the Arno, with a view out of Reception and the dining room of the Ponte Vechia. Breakfast was continental and adequate. The staff speak very good english, charming and very helpfull. Nothing was too much trouble - even telephoning another hotel for us when we were on our way up to Cinque Terra. Car parking is a pleasant walk a little way from the Hotel near Giardino Torrigiani and Piazza T. Tasso We would certainly recommend this hotel for a stay in Florence."
"We were very pleased with the room, we had a great view of the river and the surrounding hills etc. everything was first class and we recommend highly."
"A comfortable and atmospheric pensione centrally located for all ameneties in Florence. The proprietor, Antonio, extremely helpful and informative. Breakfast in the lovely diningroom overlooking the Arno starts every day well. Value for money and an added bonus to the treasures of Florence. Both Déirdre my wife and I were very happy in Pensione Bretagne."
"The staff at Bretagna were especially courteous and friendly, Particularly Antonio. There were quite helpful and accomodating. The room was very quiet. The location is quite convenient."
"Employees were very friendly, open and kind. The location of center of down town was also good. The scenery from the lobby is fine."
"We stayed at the pension. We were very happy with our stay and had great rooms. There was a problem the first night with the air conditioning in both of our rooms, but was resolved in a few hours by the owner (he came down at midnight to fix... with a smile even). Great service, a superb location, a great price, and an unexpected discount for cash payment. Highly recommended!"
"Accomodations were not 4 star, but neither was the price! We were very happy there - I traveled with 2 children who were adored by the entire staff. The price is excellent. The only downside was the bathroom was not in the room itself, but we did have exclusive use of it."
"The staff was excellent, very friendly & helpful, and spoke English fluently. The breakfast was good & more generous than the usual Italian fare."
"The Pensione Bretagna is in a very convenient location for all of the sight-seeing and museum visits. We really enjoyed our stay and especially the view of the Arno from the breakfast room. Next visit, we would be delighted to stay again at the Pensione."
"For a reasonable price, it was a very nice pensione. Most important for Florence is that it is one of the quietest places I've stayed. I was also surprised to find that they had an air condition unit in each room. Florence can get quite hot and loud, especially in summer. Most budget hotels are on noisy streets and can be unbearably hot. Very accomodating staff."
"The room was great with a view of the Arno, a great picture window where we enjoyed lovely afternoon sunsets."
"Enjoyed my visit, very central for all the sights."
"Very pleasant pensione, right on the Arno River, next to the British Consulate. Great value. Very pleasant guests, mostly American."
"The location was even better than expected. Very easy to locate, next to the British embassy, on the river. View of Ponte Vecchio. Very elegant common areas, in an old palace. Elevator only to reception. Stairs to room, but all very clean, lovely prints & paintings, great history, ask at the desk, most helpful..."
"We were very happy to stay at this hotel. Arriving at this hotel we were suprised in the spaciousness of our room and the room had a nice view. In the morning we had a breakfast. The staff are very kind and friendly. We were satisfied with this hotel."
"We made our reservations on the internet, and we were very pleased with the hotel upon arrival. It is located centrally right on the river and a few doors away from the British consulate (hence the name of the hotel). Traffic on the street outside the hotel is not as busy as some other hotels and this is a plus, as many streets in central Florence can be very noisy. The room we got was much larger than we anticipated and consisted of a bedroom, a smaller bedroom and a bathroom. Plenty of room. Very clean and comfortable. Desk staff was extremely helpful in answering our questions and providing advice. We would go back without hesitation. Excellent breakfast. Very good value for the price we paid."

General price range per room
Single, double & triple rooms: 60 - 140 euros

Centro Hotel in Florence - breakfast room Some typical guests' reviews:
"The facilities, especially the en suite bathroom, were better than we expected. The bed was comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful."
"I really recommend this hotel. The location is perfect. The staff is really helpfull. I was looking for a restaurant recommended by a friend. Unfortunatelly, the street AND the name were not correct. The porter did his best to find the restaurant, which he finally found !! "
"Breakfast is included in price, which was not described in your website. A good surprise."
"Nice Hotel. Very good relationship price/quality."
"This is a two star hotel which seemed like a nice three star hotel to us. The rooms were spacious, and the bathroom nice. The location is perfect, only a couple blocks from the duomo! It is enough off the main tourist paths that it's quiet and there are reasonably priced restaurants in the area. Contrary to the map on the site, we would recommend not driving here, there is no place to park, or to stop and unload bags, as it is a mostly pedestrian street. Overall, very good value!"
"My boyfriend and I chose a room with an external bathroom to save on some money. The bathroom was just a few steps away from our room and we could always get in there whenever we needed to, and importantly it was clean. I was a bit disappointed with the size of our actual room though. It looked like it was perhaps once a bathroom or something and converted into a room. But it was always clean - very practical and functional as opposed to cosy. The breakfast was fine - cereal and bread or croissant (not so good if you have a hangover). Good mexican bar nearly opposite the hotel that has a good happy hour 5.30 - 7.30 with half price beer and cocktails. Have the mojito !"
"This little hotel is in a great location, just a few blocks from the duomo. Our room was small, but clean and perfectly nice. We thought the place was a good value."
"EXCELLLLLLENT !!!!"
"Nice little hotel. Well situated in the city of Florence. There is the air conditionning in the rooms !!! Recommended."
"Staff was really friendly and helpfully - gave us a city map and directions and answered our questions."
"We have nothing but good things to say about our stay at Centro. Our room was newly renovated, not just clean but nice. The hotel had the feeling of a bed and breakfast run by people who really care about their property and your stay."
"The room was clean and spacious and the staff were friendly."

"A weary traveler in Florence could not ask for a better location. Cheery is an apt description for the Perso. Staff, rooms, breakfast, location and price all make for a pleasant stay in a magic city."
"We loved this hotel and would go back there when in Florence again. The staff was warm and helpful, the facilities were comfortable and pleasing to the eye, the beds were firm, and there was virtually no street noise. It was also convenient to the train station and all other sights in Florence and was easy to find. What more could one ask for?"
" Il Perseo Hotel was friendly, clean and well priced. The staff went out of their way to "step into our lives and let us step into theirs". However for guests who did not want to converse they were appropriate and professional. The breakfast was huge and both filling and healthy. Internet access is available and the owner is from New Zealand and speaks fluent English and Italian. I will stay here again should I return to Florence."
"Very central to the main attractions with helpful staff."
"My daughter and I stay for 3 nights. Would stay there again for sure when going back to Florence. Very nice staff and great location."
"Laura, Susan and the staff were very courteous and well informed. It felt as if staying with relatives (the ones you like!) Il Perseo Hotel is so well situated with EVERYTHING within walking distance (even the train station) and the street has some great shopping."
"Helpful staff prebooked Uffizi & Accadamia visits .... a must for time strapped tourists!"

"After seeing the entrance to the building, the arrival at the fourth floor reception was a relief. Enjoyed our stay and the location was perfect."
"We were made very welcome at Il Perseo Hotel . My partner's luggage did not arrive from Paris and the staff at il Perseo were very helpful and phoned the airport several times on our behalf. We were so pleased with the hotel that we booked 3 extra nights at the end of our holiday. Excellent."
"This place was amazing to stay at. I will definitely try to stay there when I go back to Firenze this Feb."
"Very enjoyable stay in Florence."
"Il Perseo was a great place to stay because it's so close to everything! The staff was helpful and friendly and the rooms clean and inexpensive! I'd stay there again!"
"Stayed at the Perseo. Staff great: helpful, friendly and informed. Room had great views and distinctive character."

Bavaria Hotel in Florence Bavaria Hotel is a budget hotel in a truly prime location between the Uffizi Gallery and the Duomo, a couple of minutes' walk from both.
The hotel itself is in a beautiful historical building from the 16th century, giving its guests the opportunity to stay in a very special ambience indeed.
The rooms, some of which are still decorated with frescoes, are furnished with antiques and maintain their original atmosphere.
Rooms are both with & without en-suite bathroom.
Some typical guests' reviews:
"Exact description of the hotel. Kind staff. Clean and confortable."
"The hotel is very well located for all of the main locations within Florence and is in a lovely building hidden away from all of the noise. Spacious, quiet rooms."
"Great atmosphere. Great location. Great staff. Fair price. Spacious, heated rooms designed in style and comfortable simplicity. Only thing missing is an elevator (for checking in with a heavy suitcase). On the whole it deserves a higher rating than 2 stars!"
"I've been going back to this hotel for several years (since 1996) and am very satisfied with the location, price, and accomodations."
"Very friendly, english speaking staff who recommended restaurants and attractions. We had a room with a shower and basin but a shared toilet for which there was never a queue. Building and rooms are extremely spacious and grand. The breakfast facilities were very good, consisting of cornflakes, various breads and crispbreads, jams, yoghurts. The location of the hotel was excellent, literally only a minute's stroll from the Duomo. Very highly recommended!!"
"We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly and the hotel was in a safe, pleasant area and was very conveniently situated for walking to all the major sites. The hotel is on the second floor without an elevator. The room was of a very generous size, although some of the old tiles on the floor were loose and not all the lights worked. Some of the paint was peeling in the bathroom. But this hotel has a history and an atmosphere which we enjoyed."
"Florence is an expensive place to stay; bearing this in mind this hotel is good value for the price we paid. The location (close to the Duomo) is perfect and the building itself is a 16th century palazzo. The rooms were huge. Overall we were very pleased with our choice. Booking with Venere worked perfectly."
"The Bavaria is a great budget choice for a short stay in Florence. The owner was friendly and spoke good English, our room was huge and attractive, and the hotel's location is perfect. Yes, it is quite noisy but that's part of the authentic Florence experience, as are the atmospheric stairs: a lift would ruin the lovely old building. Breakfast was just a couple of bread rolls and (sometimes) coffee but at least was included in the price. The only real drawback is that you have to ring the doorbell to get let in every time you come back, which can be annoying, especially late at night. Generally, though, highly recommended."
"It's a nice hotel next to the "duomo", the room was very big and the decoration was very much in accordance to the town's atmosphere. breakfast was quite nice and the service very friendly. Tourists should know, that the hotel is part of an ancient very well renovated building with private apartments and that you have to carry your luggage up to the third floor.(it's worth it)"
"Our room was very large and had terrific old frescos on two sides of the room."
"Fantastic place. Clean, friendly staff, convenient location, and priced at a value."
"Although on the 3rd or 4th floor, it was worth the climb. A 'proper' Italian pensione with a courtyard, a bit of fresco and nice high ceilings. Shared facilities absolutely no problem. The staff were friendly and helpful and we would definitely go back. It was a bit noisy one night but we did leave the window open. Very good value in our opinion."
"The room was rather modest, but that was as advertised. One of the two shared baths is tiny, and the other is accessible only by passing through the breakfast room--a bit awkward for the morning shower. But the property was clean and comfortable, and the staff were outstandingly helpful, especially when I lost my wallet to a pickpocket and when I needed very early taxi to the airport. The vase of fresh flowers that greeted me on my arrival set the tone for my whole stay. It's a nice place, and I'd gladly stay there again."
"Located on the second and third floor of a beautiful building right into the historical centre of Florence,(not immediately obvious or easily identifialble) Albergo Bavaria offers simple but correct service, suitable for short stays. I would choose a room with shower and toilet (otherwise you might find you have to wait as outside showers and toilets are put together in a single room and are in short supply - three toilet with shower all together for the two floors), preferrably not looking out on the street. When I first arrived I was given a room adjacent to a noisy courtyard and had to insist, the next day to be moved to a quieter location (I had to pay extra as it was a room with a shower). Ideal for a two to three nights stay as you are a few streets away from the Duomo, the Piazza de la Signorella, the Gallery of the Academia. The person at the reception during the day was helpful when I needed medical help. The night staff is not so competent (could not tell me which bus to take from the railway station to reach the hotel."
"Awesome hotel. I'd recommend it to anyone! Thanks to Leonardo and his great staff for running such a special place."
"Very nice located and quiet hotel. Specially for the young(er) people it is super. Wenn I go back to Firenze I'm sure I make the same choice for Bavaria. I shall recommand it to friends who will visit the town."
"Bavarian in Firenze is really quite the place to stay. With rooms that have direct views of the Duomo and are massive by both North American and European standards, you really can't go wrong. While hard to heat in the winter months, our stay was still comfortable. The breakfast left a little something to be desired but, on the whole, the stay was unblemished. Finding cheap or even decent accomodation prices in Firenze is nearly impossible and so Bavaria is a bit of a splurge, but for the spaciousness of the rooms, the grandious common rooms and the generally friendly environment this place is worth the extra cost."

General price range per room
Single, double, triple & quadruple rooms, with & without en-suite bathroom: 30 - 130 euros

Florence Bed & Breakfasts, pensions, guesthouses

Residenza Cantagalli Bed & Breakfast in Florence Residenza Cantagalli is a bed & breakfast around the corner from Boboli Gardens, yards from Palazzo Pitti, 10-15 minutes' walk to Ponte Vecchio and all major attractions.
The Residenza Cantagalli is an apartment on the second floor (with elevator) of a small building situated on the same spot where once was the historical Cantagalli Ceramics manufacturer, in a quiet area with car parking facilities and many amenities, on the other side of the Arno river.
The apartment, decorated with wall paintings by the Greek artist Jannis Binelis, inspired by Etruscan and Pompeii art and the Duomo of Pistoia, is divided into 5 independent rooms.
All rooms have en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, TV, fridge, hairdryer, other facilities and on request iron.
Rooms also have electric kettles and every other item necessary for breakfast, which is consumed in the room.
Residenza Cantagalli Bed & Breakfast in Florence Some typical guests' reviews:
"We had a very nice stay at this place; the room was big and clean and the walls had fine art, made by the owner of the place, all over. There was a ten minute walk from the room to Ponte Vecchio, and five minutes more to the Duomo. A very good location. We felt very welcome at Residenza Cantagalli! We will recomend this place for any traveller!"
"We loved it here at the Residenza Cantagalli . Roberta was extremely helpful in showing us how to get around Florence and finding good places to eat, see, do laundry, internet, etc. The location was close enough to all the tourist areas but far enough to not feel like it. The area was extremely quiet. And we loved the murals and the piano in our room. We'd come back to this place and highly recommend it to anyone."
"We had a beautiful stay in Villa Cantagalli. Our room was far better than what we expected. Excellent by all means."
"Was very nice, easy bus connction to downtown, the big boboli garden is in walking distance, so a very nice stay, the hostess was vey good in providing all the info about the sightseeings and all. very pleasant stay."
"Seems a very good value to this pair of occasional world travelers. Overall, a comfortable, well-equipped, clean room. Very nice marble and wood ambience. There is a pizza place around the corner which is worth the wait. This is not your father's pizza. On our second day we also scored big with a wonderful late dinner at a little restaurant. I wish I had the name handy. It's a little trattoria (yellow front, I think) on the east side of Borga San Frediano (I think) just north of the Via de Seragli (I think). The dining room is downstairs. (Was that the one with the coin laundry -- with cheap internet -- across and down the street?) We think it would be worth your effort to find it. But Florence must have hundreds of others like it."
"I have stayed here on my own for 2 nights -2 years running - the great thing about staying a mile away from the river is that you are in a non-tourist area. There is a bar at the end of the street and plenty of small shops to buy food at excellent prices. There is also a small market by the Porta Romana where you can get fresh fruit. The drawbacks are minor - the area is so quiet that the sound of Fridge in room switching on and off in hot weather disturbed me and the rooms are probably on small side if you were staying there for a week. The big plus was permanent hot water in a powerful shower. I plan to stay here again for a couple of nights."
"We had a wonderful stay at the Residenza Cantagalli - our hosts were so kind - they even stayed up to wait for us despite our very late arrival in Florence! The location of the Residenza is absolutely wonderful - we walked everywhere. It was only a ten or 15 minute walk to the Palazzo Pitti, and from there just a few more minutes into the true heart of the city - the Duomo, the Ufizzi, the Ponte Vecchio... we would highly recommend this place to stay in Florence. The price is unbeatable, too. Our room was very clean and comfortable, and there were pre-packaged pastries that were already in the room so we didn't have to go out for breakfast each morning. Our refrigerator was also stocked with yogurts, bottled water, juices and jams, all included in the price of the room. There was also instant coffee and an assortment of nice teas, as well as a hot-water maker, so breakfast in the room each morning was a snap. This may not work for breakfast snobs, but we were extremely happy with what was here - everything was very good and we appreciated not having to go out each morning. On the day of our departure, Roberta was so kind as to recommend some great small towns to stop at along the way to Rome - places we never would have thought to go. How wonderful. This is an excellent value in Florence and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for nice acommodations at a very fair price."
"The location was great (15 minutes from the city center). They offered us some cakes the last day of the year. In general we are satisfied. Thank you!"
"The owners were very helpful and welcoming and the rooms were fantastic - one of the best places of our entire trip - definitely wouldn't hesitate in either recomending to others or staying again - Thankyou."
"Very helpful hotelier, very enjoyable stay."
"Short bus ride from centre, or 15 minutes walk, well appointed room, hair dryer, fridge and air conditioning extremely useful. The owners could not have been more helpful, very quiet location."
"Excellent 3-nights stay. Well-decorated rooms, excellent attention from the owner. Convenient location, in a quiet area, close to bus stops to major interest places and even at a walking distance (10-15 min) from the Historic Centre."
"The Residenza Cantagalli proved to be absolutely delightful for ambiance and location just outside the tourist crush. The owner/hosts of these flats are elegant and congenial and above all supremely thoughtful and considerate. This is THE place to stay for quiet independent travellers."
"It is a real treat to have found in Florence the extraordinary and outstanding care and attention the owners bring to their B&B business, as well as the sincere kindness shown to their guests."
"We arrived quite late in the evening and the owner was awaiting us. She was very welcoming and assisted us with our luggage. Despite her husband not being well she stayed to orient us a bit before leaving for the evening. The residenza is not a full service hotel but that wasn't really our need -- just a nice place to stay. The residenza was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Our room had a new fresco'ed wall and art by the owner's husband. The bed was a split king and comfortable with a nice comforter. The bathroom was clean with decent water pressure in the stall shower. Each room has a minifridge with free juice, yogurt and breakfast supplies which was handy for storing bought lunchstuff too. The area of the hotel is a little off the main tourist routes which suited us, it is south of the Porta Romana up a little street. The surrounding area is extremely convenient in terms of the # of shops, grocers etc. direct bus service to the Center & up to Pizzale Michaelangelo is close by. Note to arrivees at SMN: take the 36 or 37 bus from in front of the station to "Porta Romana". We would definitely stay in the residenza again -- great for the traveler who doesn't need their hand held but wants comfort and class in accomodation. Cheers."

Some typical guests' reviews:
"We really enjoyed our stay at the Ridolfis'. Everything was as expected, and even better. The rooms are neat and clean, a fan is in the room. TV only offers italian channels... but who goes to Firenze to watch TV? The guy keeping the Ridolfis', Giampaolo is a very "zen", very nice and helping guy. He can procure you any info you need to have a good stay in this beautiful town. Giampaolo, if you read this: Greetings! I'd recommend Ridolfi Guest house to anyone."
"The room was very clean with own shower. But it has no air conditioner and it was very hot. But it's only 5 min walking distance to the city. The manager Giam-paolo was very kind and helpful."
"We had a wonderful time here. The manager was incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was very large and comfortable. It had a pleasant fan (temperatures were very hot!). We really liked the location. The only problem was street noise. Inside was very quiet--we had no idea anyone else was staying there. We would definitely stay there again."
"I only can say this owner was so nice. I flet Little bit cold I wish I had a extra blanket though. But excellent communication with owner. Thank you."
"The most important things for us: a clean room . good space, and a TV: because of the children . breakfast . shower/WC It was a really nice place, with a very kind host."
"Great location away from the main tourist areas but close to the markets and great restaurants. Train station only 5 minutes walk. Ideal location for attending a conference at the Fortezza, I stayed there alone for several days before my friends joined me and left completely safe. On the map it appears to be far from the centre but Florence is quite small so it was only a 10 minute walk from all the attractions, lots to see along the way. Check out the bats in the park at night!"
